USB Blaster and Programmer issue

I am using the programmer with Quartus 12, with the Altera transceiver starter kit, and I am getting the error 

 

 

Error (209066): The instruction register length for the EP4CGX15BF14 device at position 1 in the JTAG chain is unknown 

 

the pgm_parts.txt files is in the quartus bin directory so at the moment I am clueless.  

 

Any ideas?

try to open the jtag chain debugger from programmer window and test the connection. it might give you more details on the error.

Thanks. I sorted the issue though. I installed Quartus 12.0 sp2 stand alone programmer and the issue went away.
