Using the same Flash (EPCQ) for programming the device and for general use.

Hello,

My design is using AS-Active Serial for programming cyclone V E .

Can I use the same Flash (EPCQ) for two actions ?? :

1.Programming the FPGA

2.For general FPGA use

I am in the middle of designing a new board and was hopping to reduce the board BOM cost.

The AS programming is using a dedicated I/Os (DCLK, AS_DATA0, AS_DATA1, AS_DATA2, AS_DATA3, and nCSO pins). So I can NOT connect the general use flash RTL design to these IOs.

Maybe it can be done by adding and connecting general use IOs to the FLASH(EPCQ) and use it after programming is finished.

Did anyone try this solution?

Many thanks

Hi YADLE,

Thank you for contacting Intel community.

AS_DATA0, AS_DATA1, AS_DATA2, AS_DATA3, and nCSO  is a dedicated pin which means that the pin is for the specific function ONLY and cannot be use for other function. Hence you cannot used the same Flash for two actions in this case.

Thank you.

Regards,

Aiman
