VREFB pin is open! Is it possible?

Hi Everyone

I recently changed jobs.
I received a schematic that was already made.
It's an Arria 10AX027H4 circuit, and there's something strange about it.
The VREFB pins are all open, and yet this board works fine.
This board uses only tx transceiver ip.

Is this possible?

Thanks!

Pin connection guideline directs you to connect unused VREFB to GND or VCCIO. However, it doesn't tell if ignoring this rule prevents FPGA operation. I guess that increased current consumption may occur, don't know if even damage of the FPGA may happen.

If you plan a board redesign, you should definitely fix the point.

Hi schlee68,

What has been said by FvM is correct. Nevertheless, you should follow the Intel® Arria® 10 GX, GT, and SX Device Family Pin provided by Intel.
