The exact date is depending on the device, They are will be rolling them out over some time.

for the 5 series, Altera started with the Stratix V, and are moving down (Arria, then Cyclone) so general availability of all cyclone V is still a ways off.

Your best bet if you want to be an early adopter, is contact your support person and try to get some early ES devices. This would allow you to get some early prototype work done..

I'm afraid the Cyclone V - announced with advertisement - will be availble at times no one remembers the first effort of advertising the chip...

To be honest - I cannot see any benefit in announcing a chip that early before being "ready to ship"...

But that is just my two cents ^^

I have just send an email to digikey to known if my next design could use cyclone V.

I agree, I don't see any benefit about announcing a chip that early before... Reading the datasheet with nice and new functionalities and planning new products is just a waste of time...

There is still no datasheet of cyclone V in detail. Then how to get prototype design work?

I just found this datasheet. But if you are hoping to have parts soon, you need to get on the Early Adopter's list and see if you can get in line for some ES parts..

Even so, parts may not be available for awhile.

If you are looking for pinouts etc for a design you are working at the Arria V family is a little closer, I see pin-outs as well as the device handbook

So, it's September 2012 and I can't find any samples or dev.kits.... I wonder if using Cyclone IV for new design is the only way to go for now.... If anybody can sell us sample chip or dev. kit, would be great.

Thank you,

Hi,

at least one source might be ALTERA themselves...

While there are not yet few others but one's always the first :-)
