Hi,
I would like to know if it is feasible to use Cyclone V SX with XAUI IP (Soft PCS) to achieve 10Gbps Ethernet? Do you have any recommendations for external circuits? Can I use an external XAUI to SFI PHY to accomplish this project?
Additionally, I saw the DUAL XAUI TO SFP+ HSMC BOARD on Terasic. Its architecture seems to be what I want to achieve (FPGA <-> XAUI <-> BCM8727 <-> SFP), but it does not mention Cyclone V SX. Does this mean that Cyclone V SX cannot use XAUI IP to complete this task?
Thank you.

Hi
Using Cyclone V SX with XAUI IP (Soft PCS) to achieve 10Gbps Ethernet is not directly supported, as Cyclone V SX does not natively support 10Gbps Ethernet. However, you can use an external PHY like Broadcom BCM8727 to handle the XAUI to SFI conversion, enabling 10Gbps Ethernet. The Terasic DUAL XAUI TO SFP+ HSMC BOARD can facilitate this architecture (FPGA <-> XAUI <-> BCM8727 <-> SFP), although it requires careful integration and validation.
