fitting problem with ddr2 controller

I am a total novice at this kind of thing so the answer is probably staring me in the face. I have built a ddr2 controller for cyclone4 using the megawizard plug-in manager. Then I created a quartusII project (web edition 10.1) and added all the files created by the wizard. The project compiles ok but won't fit in the device. On pin planner I have assigned all the pins to the signals I recognise but there are hundeds of other local signals which also appear on pin planner. In fact there are more signals than there are pins on the cyclone4, which is why it doesn't fit. I guess I have added too many files to my quartusII project, but is there a way of knowing which ones I need and which I don't or is there another answer to my problem?
