getting programming error

I entered a very simple design, compiled it, and then tried to program my Stratix II device.

There are 2 devices in my JTAG chain, the Stratix II (device 1) and a power PC (device 2).

I set up the JTAG chain, hit start on the programer and then got:

  • Info: Started Programmer operation at Wed Jun 29 17:26:30 2011

  • Info: Configuring device index 1

  • Info: Device 1 contains JTAG ID code 0x020950DD

  • (then the status bar goes from 0 to 98%)

  • Error: Can't configure device. Expected JTAG ID code 0x020950DD for device 1, but found JTAG ID code 0x00000000.

  • Error: Operation failed

  • Info: Ended Programmer operation at Wed Jun 29 17:26:40 2011

Any clues as to what I am doing wrong?

  • (using USB-Blaster & Mode: JTAG)

  • (Power PC set to Instruction Length 8)

  • (Auto detect works befor programing but gets "Unable to scan device chain" after error. Need to power cycle to get chain unblocked)
