image segmentation

i planned to do my final year engineering project in altera DE2 board... 

my project title is "Hardware implementation of region based image segmentation algorithm" could u pls tell me whether it is possible to to perform image segmentation in altera DE2...? if possible pls help me by providing some region based image segmentation algorithm or any image seggmentation algorithm....also help me by providing any useful links regarding my project title.....  thank u!!

My project is relating to simple hand gesture capturing and recognition. I need to capture hand from user and do image processing on it. Do you manage to do the adaptive iamge segementation?

no i m working just on d platform.....r u using a video in and displaying d output in an external monitor??
