pin migration 5CEA4, 5CEA5 and 5CEA7 in F484 package

Hi all,

just used an 5CEA4 in an F484, and wanted to upgrade to a bigger FPGA.

And noticed, that the bigger devices don't have the bank 2A at all.

How is this pin migration work, if a lot of the pins are not used at all in the bigger devices?

What am I missing, if I like to be able to use different devices in the same pinout?

Have you specified any migration parts in you Quartus project? Quartus allows you to specify a number of footprint compatible parts in a project and will check/route to a pinout suitable for all parts specified. You will still compile for a specific part. However, it'll ensure an appropriate pinout for use in any of them. I wouldn't worry about which banks each part does or doesn't have. Although that might be a problem it isn't necessarily so.

Cheers,

Alex
