Hello every master.
which is the best choice for H.264? should i use stratix gx or stratix II? in the altera web i find the ip core which made by Ateme,and they use stratix II. so I want to konw which is the best choice for H.264? thanks !Link Copied

Stratix II is probably fine for it. You would only need a GX part if you need to use high speed serial I/O. Also H.264 is a beefy algorithm so the more size the better (and the fmax increase will help too).
For H.264 look for the amount of onchip memory and multiplier blocks that are available. Those are typically what you look for in a FPGA when implementing DSP capabilities.- Mark as New

Before jumping to which FPGA you need to state the current and future frame sizes and rates and whether you need Baseline h.264 or a higher level profile. The CAST baseline profile core can support two channels of full SD resolution at 30 fps in Cycclone II.
