Once upon a time, people Installed Intel RST because Intel's storage driver outperformed that from Microsoft. Those days are gone; there is no performance advantage to installing Intel RST. If you don't need RAID and you don't use Optane, there is really no reason to (in BIOS) set the SATA Mode to anything other than AHCI and no reason to install the Intel RST software.
