IRST verifying - over 1 month @ 13%

I had some issues where (2) drives dropped out of my Raid 0 array. I was able to recreate the array by re-adding all drives and all the data appears to be intact, however IRST has been 'verifying' for over 1 month and is only now at 13%. My volume is 12TB. Is this normal for IRST to take this long to verify, perhaps because the volume is large?

Hello grocerylist,

Thank you for contacting Intel Communities.

In this case, IRST will rebuild the RAID 0 only when the computer is being used, if it goes to sleep or hibernates, the process will stop.

Please let me know how it goes.

Hi Juan,

My computer doesn't go to sleep or hibernate. The verification is now at 14%. Is this normal for a 12TB Raid 0 to have only verified 14% in a little over a month?

Thanks,

Ray

Hi Juan,

Haven't heard anything from you since last week. My IRST verify is now at 16% complete. Can you let me know if this is normal for a verify to take this long? It's taken about 5 weeks now to get to 16%.

Thanks,

Ray

Hello grocerylist,

Sorry for the delay.

Actually, it shouldn't take that long for it to be completed.
  • Are you using HDDs or SSDs? Are they combined in the array?
    • Please provide the model number of each drive:
  • What is the model number of the processor you have?

At this moment, the process shouldn't be interrupted to start over, we should wait until it is completed.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Regards,

Hi Juan,

I'm using HDDs. Yes they're combined in the array.

Model numbers: WDC WD30EFRX-68EUZN0

The processor I have is i5 4670K.

I'm now at 20% complete.

Thanks,

Ray

Hi grocerylist,

In this case, since you mentioned that all data appears to be intact, I would recommend backing up all your data and create the RAID 0 from scratch and then transfer the information.

I decided to keep the verification running. I'm at 94% now, hopefully it will finish in the next week or two.
