Raid 10 Unable to add a new disk

Hi,

I have an old Asus Z87MPLUS motherboard with 6 SATA ports. The OS is windows 7 pro. Two ports are used for ssd and dvd and the other four for a raid 10 (4 x 2TB). I changed a disk because it was faulty with a new one. The disk was successfully added to the existing raid and the rebuilding started without problem.
After the rebuild I did a reboot and the disk disappeared, the RST utility indicated a free sata port and the fourth disk was at 0GB. After a new reboot the raid was ok again, the rebuild started but at 65% the disk disappeared again.

Could it be the sata cable, the power cable, the power supply, the motherboard or the new drive that have some issue?

Thanks

Hello pa67

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

In order to check this further, could you please provide the following information?

1- Detailed information about the steps you followed to rebuild the array.

2- A System Report for Intel® Rapid Storage Technology following the steps on this link:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000006351/technologies.html

3- An Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) report following these steps:

  1. Download the Intel® SSU and save the application on your computer: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-
  2. Open the application, check the "Everything" checkbox, and click "Scan" to see the system and device information. The Intel® SSU defaults to the "Summary View" on the output screen following the scan. Click the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View".
  3. To save your scan, click Next and click Save.

Note: To upload and attach a file, use the "Drag and drop here or browse files to attach" dialog below the edit box.
