Merci d'avance.

I am sorry, but the translator is garbling your message a bit. Please explain what happened at each step a lot more verbosely and with a lot more detail.

I see from the report you attached that you have a very small mSATA SSD and a large HDD installed. How did you want to use RAID0 with this?

If you have Windows installed on the HDD, you could use Intel Smart Response Technology (SRT, a feature within Intel RST that allows a SSD to be used as a cache to accelerate accesses to a HDD), but you must have Windows installed on the HDD with the SATA Mode already set to RAID. Further, you need to use an older version of Intel RST since the latest versions do not have Intel SRT support any longer.

Merci d'avance.

If the SSD was actually being used as an acceleration cache, then you were using Intel SRT. While this makes it appear as if the drives were associated by a RAID0 array, they actually wasn't.

If what you did after the problems appeared was go into BIOS Setup, change the SATA Mode parameter setting from RAID to AHCI and then reinstall Windows, you are going to have a problem activating Intel SRT. The RAID setting is necessary to use Intel SRT. If Windows is installed with the AHCI setting and you then change the setting to RAID, Windows will BSOD during boot. Unfortunately, if you want to change back to the RAID setting so you can use Intel SRT, then you will need to reinstall Windows yet again.

If you are ok with this, here are the steps that you will need to do:

  1. Go into BIOS Setup and change the SATA Mode parameter setting to RAID.
  2. Save BIOS configuration and exit from BIOS Setup.
  3. Use CTRL-I to enter the Intel RST OpROM program.
  4. Make sure that the SST is marked as being a Non-RAID Disk (this might have been a left-over from the previous changes).
  5. Exit from the tool.
  6. Boot from your Windows installation media and do a from-scratch (not upgrade) install of Windows.
  7. Once complete, log into Windows and install the Intel RST package. Note: do not use any of the latest versions from the Intel site (they don't support Windows 8 and they don't support Intel RST). Use the version that was supplied with your motherboard.
  8. Reboot.
  9. Follow the attached document for enabling acceleration with the SSD.

Hope this helps,

Bonjour,

If you want to install Windows onto a drive with RAID enabled, then you have to either inject the Intel RST drivers into the Windows installation image beforehand or, during the Windows installation (during the system device selection process), load the Intel RST drivers from a USB drive or something similar. Frankly, I find the latter far easier to do - and you can simply put the drivers on the Windows installation media itself. The bare drivers that you require are in the ZIP files that you can download from the same location as the Intel RST installation package.

My personal take is that it is a waste of time (and money) using a SSD to cache a HDD. Unless the SSD is a teeny thing, you will see far better performance installing Windows on the SSD and then using the HDD for the storage of the less-often-accessed files. Actually, on older versions of Intel RST that still include support for Intel SRT, you could do both. That is, use part of SSD as your Windows system drive and part of this same SSD as the Intel SRT acceleration cache. See the attached article that I wrote a few years ago.
