Assuming HDDs are controlled by onboard SATA, can I boot from an NVMe SSD in the M.2 slot? Motherboard is S2600STB. SSD is P4101 (1.024TB, M.2 80mm PCIe* 3.0 x4, 3D2, TLC). Thanks.

It is certainly possible to boot from a NVMw SSD connected in the M.2 slot
M.2 NVMe drives can only boot while on UEFI mode. SATA M.2 drives can boot in either UEFI or legacy modes.
