Connect two JBOD in one server

I have one Intel server R1304BB4DC and Intel disk chassis JBOD2312S2SP connected to the server via SFF-8080 to a SAS Expander.

I want to connect second disk chassis Intel JBOD2312S3SP.

Because of my Intel server hasn't free extension slots I want to connect second disk chassis through the first JBOD. Like this: R1304BB4DC <-- JBOD2312S2SP <-- JBOD2312S3SP

I think that for such connection I need to install to my first JBOD Interface Converter Board AXXSAS88CNVRT and SAS Expander RESCV360JBD from the list of https://ark.intel.com/products/74543/Intel-Storage-System-JBOD2312S2SP Compatible Products of the JBOD2312S2SP

I suppose I need connect two SFF-8088 from JBOD2312S3SP to the Interface Converter Board in the JBOD2312S2SP. Then connect three (1 per 4 disks) SFF-8087 from Interface Converter Board AXXSAS88CNVRT to the SAS Expander RESCV360JBD.

Or I need just plug one HBA like LSI SAS 9207-8e to the Intel JBOD2312S2SP and connect to it second disk chassis JBOD2312S3SP?

In result, I want to get 24 disks in my server per 12 from each JBOD.

Please tell me whether I understood and appreciated all correctly.

Hello alex91,

Intel Customer Service no longer responds to telephone, chat, e-mail and communities inquiries for those products that you are using due to the fact that they are already discontinued products. However, let me provide you more information about the configuration that you are planning to implement.

Please check the following PDF File ( https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/server-products/server-systems/JBOD%20HWG_v.1.42.pdf https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/server-products/server-systems/JBOD%20HWG_v.1.42.pdf ) in the section 7.5.2. You will see more details about how to configure Two JBOD Cascade properly. According to the information of Server Board, JBODs, JBOD Interface Converter Board and the SAS Expander those devices have the compatibility among themselves.

If you have any other question, please do not hesitate and let me know and I will be more than happy to assist you.

Best regards,

Emeth X
