Does S1200SPLR support 7th Core i3 processors, and ECC UDIMM?

Jump to solution

Hello.

There are 3 questions.

Q1. Does S1200SPLR support 7th Core i3 processors?

Since the ARK website shows that yes, but the TPS pdf document only talked about the Xeon E3-1200 v5/v6 and 6th Core i3 processors.

https://ark.intel.com/products/97950/Intel-Server-Board-S1200SPLR

https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/server-products/S1200SP_TPS_AllSKU.PDF

Q2. Does 7th Core i3 processors support Unbuffed ECC memory?

At the first launch of 7th Core i3, the ARK website said NO about ECC memory support. Even now, some of OEM vendor, like Lenovo, still said NO ECC memory support.

https://lenovopress.com/lp0600-system-x3250-m6-intel-xeon-e3-1200-v5-v6-core-i3-pentium-celeron-g-se...

But at this time, the ARK website shows YES.

Q3. Is it possible to build a server which together with S1200SPLR, Core-i3-7300 and DDR4 ECC UDIMMs?

And make it full functional.

BTW

When will Intel release next generation entry level server board which support Coffee Lake family CPUs?

Or NEVER?

Noticed that in the Technical Product Specification the SPLR (which is a refresh version) is not showing. Make sure the S1200SPLR you are using has the latest BIOS. Q2. Does 7th Core i3 processors support Unbuffed ECC memory? At the first launch of 7th Core i3, the ARK website said NO about ECC memory support. Hello Jeremiah

Thanks for reply! It helps a lot. About Q2, I mean i3-7100 or i3-7300.

Although S1200BTLR is good for me, but I still want a new platform. Can you tell me whether Intel is working the new motherboard or not?
