Errors SPS FW Health in the BMC registry - S2600STB motherboard

We have a server with S2600STB motherboard and two Intel (R) Xeon (R) Bronze 3106 CPU @ 1.70GHz processors, and VMware ESXi-6.5.0-20180502001-standard operating system, sporadically, at least once a month , the system gives us a pink screen and is fully hung. In the BMC register, you indicate an SPS FW Health notice of Critical category.

Which may be due? What component does not work correctly?

We attach BMC logs of the last 3 incidents.

Thank you

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Intel Server Community Support.

I was reviewing the information provided and I noticed you have mentioned that your system has been showing a Purple Screen Of Death.

The PSOD could occur because of software and hardware reason, most of the PSOD issues in my experiences caused by hardware firmware.

I would like to ask you the following probing questions in order to identify the root cause of the issue:

  1. When did this issue start?
  2. Have you changed an internal component recently?
  3. Have you applied an update, upgrade or changed the configuration recently?
  4. Is the Intel Server Board showing the POST? or Are you able to get into the BIOS of the Intel Server Board?
  5. Have you tried to implement some troubleshooting steps to the hardware?

I tried to check the DebugLogs provided but the files are encrypted. Do you have the possibility to extract the SysInfo Log and SEL from this Intel Server Board?

Please check the following link to gather the Logs:

Intel System Information Retrieval Utility (Sysinfo):

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000023940/server-products/server-boards.html

System Event Log (SEL):

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000007037/server-products.html

If you would like to share with us the logs from the VMware EXSi host in order for us to verify them, I would like to refer you to the following article by VMWare:

Extracting the log file after an ESX or ESXi host fails with a purple screen error (1006796) | VMware KB

Also, for troubleshooting the cause of the purple diagnostic screen, see the following article by VMWare:

Interpreting an ESX host purple diagnostic screen (1004250).

I will be waiting for your response in order to proceed with the next step.

Have a wonderful day.

Hello,

I was reviewing your thread and I have not seen any activity recently before to close this thread I would like to conclude with a little summary of the first interaction and recommendations provided:

  1. Verify the probing questions provided in the early post in order to verify the root cause of the issue.
  2. Verify with VMware the logs suggested in order to analyze them and verify the specific component that is causing this problem.
  3. Also, as I mentioned the PSOD could occur because of software and hardware reason, most of the PSOD issues in my experiences caused by hardware errors.

If you were able to identify the root cause of the issue, it will highly appreciate it if you can share with me the resolution of the steps you used to fix the problem.

Please if you have more questions do not hesitate and contact us back and we will be more than happy to assist you.

Best regards,
