External disks on SS-4200-E

Is there something else I need to do to have the SS-4200-E recognize an external USB or eSATA drive? I have connected a USB drive and it does not seem to detect it.

Which file system did you use to format your external drive? I believe SS4200-E will only recognize FAT or FAT32.

I was assuming they would be erased and reformatted like the internal ones. If my unit ever succeeds in rebooting, I'll try again.
