GPU power from a P4304XXMUXX / S2600CW

Hi, so I'm building a deep learning machine with the P4304XXMUXX and a RTX3090. I'm encountering several challenges:

(1) Apparently S2600CW has a max. power uptake of 300W for one single card. I might have to throttle the graphics card to 300W, which is a pity but not the end of the world.

(2) The 750W-PSU doesn't provide 8-pin PCIe connectors. There is already another post addressing the same issue but the suggested solution is to use a Molex to 8-pin adapter, which forum entries and sellers explicitly warn against.

(3) What follows is the information available in the server docs (see attached files)

  • The manual advises using a 2x3pin plus a 2x4pin connector to supply the required 225W in addition to the 75W supplied by the PCIe slot (screenshot 1). But it doesn't say where to connect these.
  • The configuration document suggests that there might be an accessory kit including cables (screenshot 2), but it's impossible to find and is no explanation where the cables could go.

Your help as to the best way forward is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Devi_Intel,

thank you for clarifying and yes, I was hoping for help from other users. Is this still the right forum for help from the community?

Thank you & best wishes,

Klaus

If anyone is ever having the same issue, the answer I eventually found in the documentation is to use additional power from both CPU connectors using a splitter and connect that to the PCIe connection. Don't forget to throttle your graphics card to 300W though.
