How should a hot spare look like

When i assign a single disk as hot spare for a virtual disk, the hard disk status led blinks alternating green/orange on SR2612URR chasis. This is not documented anywhere and orange color confuses me as orange hard disk status led actually indicates fault. RWC2 do not indicate anything wrong. Both SRCSASBB8I and RS2BL080 controllers behave same way. Should i consider this OK, or will it change after some time? The blinks persist even after full initialize of the virtual drives. The disks i used are WD RE4 with RS2BL080 and WD20EARS(Consumer Grade) with SRCSASBB8I.

I have been checking an older version of TPS (E76293-002 - November 2009) which do not contain this table. Thank you very much for prompt reply.
