How to import a foreign configuration after replacing the RAID controller?

An Intel R2224WFTZS server has an Intel 'Trinity Dunes' Avago RSP3TD160F RAID Adapter, an Intel 'Wildcat Pass' RES3TV360 RAID Expander, and a RAID-6 array of 14 each D3-S4510  series 3.8TB SATA drives, three of which failed after several months of use. (The OS is on a separate drive, not part of the array.) This is the second failure we've had, and with three drives out, we've lost the array contents.

How do we import the foreign configuration found by the RSP3TD160F controller? The instructions in section 5.3 of the Intel RAID Software User Guide https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/server-products/raid-products/SWUG_full_featured_entry_RAID.pdf do not show how to import the foreign configuration.

Hello BTMET,

A foreign configuration is a RAID configuration that already exists on a replacement set of drives that you install in a computer system. You can use the LSI Storage Authority software to import the foreign configuration to the controller or clear the foreign configuration so that you can create a new configuration using these drives.

Perform the following steps to import or clear foreign configurations:

1. Navigate to the Controller dashboard.

2. Click Configure and then click Foreign Configuration.

The Foreign Configuration window appears, which lists all of the foreign configurations.

3. Click one of the following options:

Import All: Import the foreign configurations from all the foreign drives.

Clear All: Remove the configurations from all the foreign drives.

4. Click Re-Scan to refresh the window.

You can import or clear the foreign configuration on security-enabled drives. See Importing or Clearing a Foreign Configuration – Security-Enabled Drives.

That is software not received with the server-controller package. Is that freely downloadable from Intel?
