How to update MFSYS25V2 to 10.18 firmware

Hello,

I have an Intel Modular Server System MFSYS25V2 with fw Version 11.6.100.20120307.34736.

I currently have two problems:

1) The CMM reboots about every 90-120 minutes. I see sequence of these events:

Server Power Permission Revoked

CMM Startup - Version 11.6.100.20120307.34736

Storage Controller Operational

Server Power Permission Granted

2) I have configured the passphrase for the predefined SNMPv3 user that I use to manage fencing operations of the blades that are configured as cluster nodes (CentOS, oVirt, etc..)

When the CMM restarts, it seems it looses the passphrase configuration, so that I'm forced to connect and re-set it every time because it doesn't match anymore

I see another thread regarding 1) but without particular answers. My hw should be in THOL and the problem appeared some days ago, without any recent hw modification..

I see that 10.18 fw has been released and more up to date.

Using it I would loose Virtualization feature, but I'm not using it so it is not a problem for me.

Going through release notes I see that 10.18.100.20130627.38849 requires 10.x pre-installed and going back it's the same until 10.3.

And 10.3 requires 10.1, but I don't find any download link for 10.1

Can anyone tell me if and how can I go from 11.6.100.20120307.34736 to 10.18.100.20130627.38849 and if there any any drawbacks?

Tahnks in advance,

Gianluca

I confirm since yours is an Intel® Modular Server Chassis MFSYS25V2, you can move from 11.6 directly to https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23202 10.18 with no drawbacks*. Please, refer to the corresponding http://downloadmirror.intel.com/23202/eng/v10_18_Install_Instructions_Release_Notes.pdf Release Notes for the step-by-step instructions.

* Always have the good habit of keeping an updated back-up of your data.

I read release notes, thanks. But within dependencies it says The system should be at 10.x version....

My question is indeed to solve this doubt...

Any official answer about the upgrade?

I have a planned maintenance during these days and as the upgrade requires to power down the blades, I would like to combine the two things.

The release notes for 10.18 ask you to already be in 10.x to apply the upgrade... Is this true or is it an incomplete sentence and I can directly upgrade my 11.6.100.20120307.34736 to 10.18.100.20130627.38849 without intermediate steps?

Thanks in advance for any help completing my activity.

Since yours is at 11.6, you can directly upgrade to https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23202 10.18 without any problems, which precisely complies with the "system must be at firmware level V10.x prior to starting this update" wording.

I confirm that I was able to directly update from 11.6.100.20120307.34736 to 10.18.100.20130627.38849 without intermediate steps.

All fw levels of SCM and blades seems ok now after following instructions.

Let's see if my problems with CMM reboots and SNMPv3 loosing its config have been solved

BTW: in my opinion it is not so clear that V11.Y matches V10.X.

Thanks anyway.
