Intel Pro 1000/PT Dektop - Disappearing Info

PC: Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 (32bit)

NIC: Intel Pro 1000/PT Desktop adapter

Driver Version: PROVISTA32_v13_3

After Installing the v13.3 drivers, with the Advanced Network Services, if I go into Device Manager, select the PT 1000 NIC and choose properties, I see the additional tabs that were added in the driver install. At some point, say a week later, I open Device Manager, then the properties for the PT 1000 NIC, the additional tabs are gone. I just see the default Windows tabs - General, Driver, Details, Power Management. I have uninstalled the NIC in Device Manager, including the driver software, reinstalled the drivers with the Advanced Network Services, and once again see the additional tabs in Device manager for the NIC. However, a few days later, when I check the NIC in Device Manager, the additional tabs are gone. I have also seen this behavior with previous version of the driver software, not just v13.3.

1. Why are the additional tabs disappearing?

2. What should the driver version show as on the driver tab in Device Manager. Mine shows as, Driver Date: 9/26/2008. Driver Version 9.12.30.0. Shouldn't it be Oct 2008 and 13.3??

Are you accessing the computer remotely? See http://www.intel.com/support/network/sb/CS-020166.htm http://www.intel.com/support/network/sb/CS-020166.htm for one cause of disappearing tabs. You might give version 13.5 software a try. The new version should become available on Monday, January 12, 2009.

The driver version is correct. The "13.3" is the overall software version and usually aligns with the PROSet version number. You can see a table of recent, individual driver versions at http://support.intel.com/support/network/sb/CS-023752.htm http://support.intel.com/support/network/sb/CS-023752.htm.
