I recently purchased an Intel S2600WP serverboard without the chasis. According to the https://trgcqcontent.cps.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-briefs/server-board-s2600wp-brief.pdf product specification this board seems to be compatible with 4 different chasis H2216XXJR , H2216XXKR , H2312XXJR ,H2312XXKR.Of those 4 server boards only H2312XXKR is available online. And this happens to cost a fortune after adding the shipping costs. After a lot of search i was able to find only the http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-DPS-1200TB-A-G18593-007-1200W-Switching-Server-PSU-F4-SD-E/131804025583?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D41376%26meid%3Db15aca80927f4863a4ac8fb7bb69d2a3%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D201020685368 psu (intels 1200 W redundant supply compatible with S2600WP serverboard) and not the chasis. So i was planning on using this board and the psu without the chasis or a different chasis(which is just a barebone 2U rack). So can i do that ? If not can the community suggest me something else.

Hello Naveed,
The compatible chassis currently validated by Intel are the H2000 series. Intel has tested and validated these four Chassis models for the Intel® Server Board S2600WT.
H2216XXJR , H2216XXKR , H2312XXJR ,H2312XXKR.
Please use compatible chassis for motherboard and PSU. You could get more information from http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/000008169.html http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/000008169.html
Additionally, in regards to your question about the use of the Serverboard without chassis, it is possible but not recommended unless it is for testing purposes and not for an extensive period of time.
Best regards,
Caesar B.

Let's say i place the mother board in some chasis other than the compatible one's and provide good cooling to it. So what can go wrong if i use this setup for an extensive period of time.
Thanks

Hello Naveed,
The Intel® Serverboard S2600WP is intended to be used with one of the above-mentioned Chassis.
You could try this integration on your own, however, there is always the thermal and cooling factor to be taken into consideration.
Intel always recommends using validated hardware to avoid unforeseen issues.
Best regards,
Caesar B.
