Hi,
I currently have an Intel® Server Board S2600CW2S, I would like to configure ZFS on some of the hard disks linked to the LSI embedded controller. Would I be required to flash the on board RAID controller specifically to IT mode to allow passing through each drive independently or would this not be necessary eg. I only have to select software mode in the BIOS?
Regards

Hello Some-User:
There is no actual updatable embedded RAID firmware. What could be updated is the board firmware but it is not necessary to do it in order to enable any of the software RAID modes. The current modes available are AHCI (no RAID individual drives), RAID 0, 1 and 5. For information about how to enable and setup the embedded server RAID controller check the following document: http://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/server-products/ESRT2_Software_UG.pdf http://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/server-products/ESRT2_Software_UG.pdf
Hope this helps
