Intel® Server System R1304WT2GSR fan works very loud like at reboot

we added pci Adaptec ASR-6405 instead of onboard to have hardware RAID-5

and since that we made RAID, install Server 2012 - fan roars all the time like the unit at start . . .

what shall we do to calm it . . .

Fans can go loud for several reasons, in this case since you add a card to the system first make sure that you left the lid completely closed.

Also, I would recommend running the firmware update in case that one of the sensors is not reading properly, this will update all the sensors as well as the BIOS, Baseboard management controller (BMC) and management engine (Me).

You can find the latest firmware update https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26514/Intel-Server-Board-S2600WT-BIOS-and-Firmware-Update-for-EFI?product=88277 here

Note: If your current BIOS is older than version 14, https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25635/Intel-Server-Board-S2600WT-BIOS-and-Firmware-Update-for-EFI update to version 14 before updating to version 18 and above.

Please let us know if the fans go down after trying the suggested steps.

Thanks a lot !

Recommendations you gave are the same as our sale manager (one who sold us the unit) . . .

We followed them once more (BIOS was updated before to v...20).

Dragged the Adaptec card out and inserted again, firmly closed the unit cover - and fan goes calm . . .

The problem was over!

One more question . . .

All the way we tried to control fans

- we searched for a page in BIOS with current temperature and fan speed

- and did not find it . . .

Is the only way to see this information - Intel special programs . . . ?
