Hello,

I'm trying to get my hands on intel DPC-CLI software installation tool for RedHat (CLI_RHLinux_install.sh).

https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/motherboards/server/sysmgmt/sb/intel_cli_user_guide91.pdf

Could someone please help me locate the installation script?

Thanks in advance

Barnabas

Hello Barnabas,

The script is in the same guide page 8. <cd>/software/Utilities/linux/DPCCLI/linux/CLI_RHLinux_install.sh

https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/motherboards/server/sysmgmt/sb/intel_cli_user_guide91.pdf

If that is not what you are looking for, then, please provide the model of the processor and server board, also the RH OS version.

Additionally, we can you detail what are you attempting to do? perhaps we can offer an alternative tool?

Regards

Hello Jose,

May I ask where I could download the shell script CLI_RHLinux_install.sh?

I'm aware that the documentation mentions where it is supposed to be, but the intel server doesn't come it by default.

I'm trying to do remote console (SOL) connection using the script. The machines that I have to have SOL access to are S2600KPR  with dual E5-2630v4 and S2600BPB with dual Silver 4216 CPU. Using CentOS 7 on the machines.

Hello Barnabas,

Let me check if this script is part of any downloadable library or if contained in a particular Intel software package. Have you checked this path already just to confirm is not part of the OS already <cd>/software/Utilities/linux/DPCCLI/linux/CLI_RHLinux_install.sh

I will get back to you as soon as I have updates.

Hello Barnabas,

The appropriate CLI software download was removed in 2019 because of Cypress PRT. You may use Intel BMC web console on S2600BP or use ipmitool from 3rd party for remote management.

Also, according to the PDF, it only supports pretty old Intel servers, refer to the below screenshot.

Dear Jose,

The ideal solution for our problem would avoid the use of web browsers. I have managed to create a SOL connection to the console, however the native SOL connection is very buggy. It seem to only work when a server is rebooted and the connection is somehow re initiated. As you might think, this is not possible for production server environments.

The 3rd party impitool has similar performance, as it is using the native SOL connection to communicate with the console environment. This is why I thought possibly a driver from intel directly would have better result.

Is Cypress PRT the official replacement of the DPC-CLI tool? Would you have any recommendations how I could have remote console access using Cypress PRT?

Best

Hello Barnabas,

The DCP-CLI was removed with no official replacement. Cypress PRT seems to be a 3rt party capable of doing similar job. Let me try to get further details. I will get back to you soon.

Hello Barnabas,

Currently there is not a dedicated tool.

There is an alternative option of using 3rd party tool putty

1, Download putty from 3rd party web site.

2, connecting serial port of HNS2600BPB to local computer via serial cable. You may need to install USB serial driver if that’s the first time use serial cable on your computer.

3, copy putty.exe to computer. Double click putty.exe to launch it and config putty as below before capturing serial log:

Serial line: input serial port number (you can open device manager on computer to identify which serial port you’re using), ex, COM1.

Speed: 115200

Connection type: Serial

4, Go to Session > Logging config panel, set Session logging: All session output, set Log file name and click ‘Open’ to launch putty.

There are some extra information that we could share but it requires a Corporate Non-Disclosure Agreement. By any chance does your company have a CNDA number?

Dear Jose,

I am aware that I can get console access to the servers via a cable; this is not ideal nor practical. The servers are in a remote location, inaccessible for most of the time physically. We need REMOTE access to the console without involving a web browser.

Hiding further information behind an NDA wall is very unprofessional, as I am sure I am not the only person looking for this kind of information. Also, if someone finds this forum thread, later on, it would be great if they could also get a solution.  It is unlikely that the solution hidden behind the NDA wall would be suitable for any users that are NOT using an intel server anyways.

Hello Barnabas,

Thanks very much for your feedback. We understand your point. Unfortunately the straight answer to your original question about the DCP-CLI tool is that is been deprecated as per it was supported on really old systems (no longer supported either)

We are been trying to provide some alternatives but we know those might or might not be suitable for what you are trying to accomplish.

About the NDA, it is just internal policies with information considered confidential by Intel.

We appreciate your understanding.
