Hello Kilroy,
Regarding your question, "problems installing windows 2008".
Let me help you with this, first to let you know this model of server is on End Of Life, can be located on Intel https://ark.intel.com/products/46530/Intel-Server-Board-S5000VSASASR ARK.
According to the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/46530/Intel-Server-Board-S5000VSASASR download center, windows 2008 is compatible.
Could help me and elaborate more:
- HDD configuration
- RAM been use and configuration.
- BIOS Version.
- Print screen on the error message.
Thank you for help and patience.
If there is anything else we can help please feel free to ask.
Best regards,
Henry A.

Well, you will not believe this, but playing around with the sata options, I figured out that the DVD wasn't the first on the boot priority. I Couldn't change the order, so I physically placed the DVD first. I was then able to install Server 2008. Stupid isn't it?
Thanks any way.
