Intel software RAID to hardware RAID

Hi, I used Google and found this:

I use a GIGABYTE H87M-HD3 with Intel H87 (Lynx Point) at the moment (5 HDD, Raid 5, Intel RST).

I bought an Intel RS3DC080 today. Is there any possibility to use the existing software raid with the new controller without rebuilding the array?

Hello Markus,

Unfortunately, the system configuration you are planning is not feasible. In this particular case you will need to do a back-up and proceed to rebuild the Software RAID 5 on the Hardware RAID using the Intel® RS3DC080.

Hello Markus,

We would like to know if further assistance is required. Were you able to rebuild the software RAID 5 into your Intel® RS3DC080?

Sincerely,

Caesar B.
