Hi.
I want to purchase an LSI 9286cv-8e RAID controller card (http://www.lsi.com/products/raid-controllers/pages/megaraid-sas-9286cv-8e.aspx http://www.lsi.com/products/raid-controllers/pages/megaraid-sas-9286cv-8e.aspx) for a storage server. The Intel version of this card is https://www-ssl.intel.com/content/www/us/en/servers/raid/raid-controller-rs25sb008.html Intel® RAID Controller RS25SB008. It just so happens that I can get the Intel card for significantly less than the LSI version of the card. The LSI card supports my hardware (a Dell R620), my disks (WD 15K RPM SAS drives), and my storage enclosure (Dell MD1220), so it's safe. In the Intel documentation for the card, there is no mention of compatibility with non-Intel boards. However, I believe that the Intel board either uses the identical LSI firmware, or can be flashed with the LSI firmware. Is there any issue with using the Intel RS25SB008 in my Dell?
Thanks!
Jason.
