M50CYP1UR212 with Windows Server 2016

Hello, 

We are having an issue with Virtualization compatability on the latest version of the BIOS on our M50CYP1UR212 Intel server. 

With Server 2016 install and virtualization enabled, the server will not start any VMs. We get an error stating that Virtualization isn't enabled in the BIOS but upon checking, it is. 

We tested part of the issue by installing a fresh copy of Windows Server 2022 and were able to start VMs without an issue. 

The issue seems to be within the combination of Server 2016 and the latest version of the BIOS 1.01.0007. 

We've tried all of the combinations of Drivers but with no success. 

We tried to downgrade the BIOS to the previous version, however, the downgrade fails. 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The issue might be related to compatibility with the operating system installed in the system. Windows* Server 2016 is not validated for the Intel® Server System M50CYP1UR212.

According to the Intel Compatibility Hardware Tool, these are the Windows systems validate for M50CYP1UR212:

• Windows Server 2019
• Windows Server 2022
• Windows Server 2022 Datacenter

Other Windows systems are validated as well, but these support only basic installation and compatibility.

• Windows Server 20H1
• Windows Server 20H2
• Windows Server 21H1

Please check the tool to confirm this information and to find any other operating system validated for your server board: https://servertools.intel.com/sct/compatibility-tool/M50CYP

Hello, 

This was the answer I needed. We installed server 2022 onto the hardware and we were able to run and host VM's in hyper-v without issue.
