Hello Siliconbrain,

Thank you for joining the community.

Intel has a tool similar to what you describe. It is called the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27472/Intel-Multi-Server-Manager-for-Intel-Server-Boards-and-Intel-Server-Systems Intel® Multi-Server Manager for Intel® Server Boards and Intel® Server Systems. The user guide can be downloaded from here: https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/server-products/IMSM_UserGuide.pdf https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/server-products/IMSM_UserGuide.pdf.

Keep in mind that this tool is for the following Linux distributions only:

1. Red Hat Enterprise Linux* 6.8 and 7.3

2. SuSE Linux Enterprise Server* 11.4 and 12.2

3. CentOS 7.3

Hope this helps

Hello Siliconbrain,

When you say VMware hosts you mean the actual host OS running on the server, or a guest OS (virtual machine)? HP SIM supports Linux OS running as guest on a VMWare host only.

Either way the IMSM runs on hosts with the supported Linux distributions only (RHEL, SLES, CentOS). Any other configuration like try to install it on a guest VM has not been tested.
