Provide the processor model number.

From the information you have provided, I would have to say NO, it will not support a 64-bit OS.

It is difficult to say. This is your processor:

https://ark.intel.com/products/27219/Intel-Xeon-Processor-5160-4M-Cache-3_00-GHz-1333-MHz-FSB Intel® Xeon® Processor 5160 (4M Cache, 3.00 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB) Product Specifications

It supports 64-bit instruction set. BUT - is is very old and no longer supported.

Personally, I would upgrade your hardware to something MUCH more current.

Also, I will move this thread to the server forum, where you can get a better answer.

Hi Al Hill,

Thank you so much for your reply.

We have some challenges to upgrade to new hardware. Since you mentioned the current processor supports 64-bit OS, Will we be able to install Windows server 2008 64-bit OS on the server? We use this server for backup application to run(taking backups of client servers) and would be busy for around 12 hours a day. Please let us know, if we go with the current hardware, will we be facing any challenges or any performance issues?

Thanks

Actually, I said it supports the 64-bit instruction set. It seems to have only a 32-bit address space, which means no matter what OS, you will be limited to 4gb.

So, you will need to wait until one of the Intel support staff look at this issue for an answer.
