RAM speed vs performance

Good Friday everyone,

I am setting up an Intel S2600STBR with dual Silver 4116 Xeons. I have some PC4-2133P RAM, will I be taking a performance hit instead of using PC4-2400 or PC4-2666?

Thanks

Ray

Hello RSump1,

Thank you for joining the Intel community

According to the Technical Product Specification document for the S2600STB board family, you should be able to install memory up to 2400 MT/s when using Xeon Silver processors. So, to answer your question, if you plan to use PC4-2133P RAM if shouldn't create such a dramatic performance difference. Probably you should be able to somehow compensate with a larger amount our RAM.

Hope it helps

I will assume using PC4-2666 will be fine too, the silver processor is capped at 2400.

Thanks

Hello RSump1,

It should yes. In such case the bottleneck will be created by the CPU and not the RAM.
