RS3DC080 Consistency Check Corrections

Hi,

We're running an Intel RS3DC080 with a RAID 6 of SAS SSDs. It's running a weekly consistency check that returns around 20-30 corrections every time it runs. Is this normal behavior or is this a sign of an issue?

Thanks,

Sam

Hello swildig,

Thank you for posting your question on this Intel® Community.

A Consistency Check (CC) scans the consistency of data on a fault-tolerant disk to determine if data has been corrupted. When CC is first run on a RAID volume that has not been fully initialized, CC errors are expected, and this is not an indication of a failure.

When it is run in a virtual drive with a redundant RAID level (RAID 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, or 60 configurations), it should automatically fix any errors. It should also determine whether the data has become corrupted and needs to be restored.

Based on the information provided, the behavior reported by your system is expected behavior. Our recommendation is that you make sure the RAID controller is running the latest firmware.

Also, best practice actions you can take are the following:

  • Check the cable, power connection, backplane, SATA/SAS port, and make sure the drives are installed and connected correctly.
