S1200BTL doesn't show anything on screen

Hi

I just bought a Intel S1200BTL board with a Intel Xeon E3 1220V2 cpu.

I've connected both the 24 and the 8 pins power cables.

When I hit the power button it apparently starts up as it suppose to, but the monitor doesn't react at all. I've tried with two different monitors but with the same result.

Any ideas to what I can do?

Check PBA of the board (AA) - in order to support this CPU you need S1200BTLR revision

As far as I can find at Intels pages, the CPU should be supported.

The PBA from the box is G68718-102

Please check the AA number labeled on the board itself (near serial number). It should be E98681-352 or higher. (See here how to find AA number http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-009008.htm Desktop Boards — Find support by board AA number)

Hmm maybe I'm blind but I can't see the AA number on the board. From the box is a version number G71018-102 if that is of any help. Maybe I should mention that it is a server board?!

About the memory I got the wrong block. I've ordered a new one that should fit accordingly to Intels compatibility site. The first block I've got made the board beep 3 times which indicated that the memory was wrong. meanwhile I had a 2 GB block which did fit without beeping. But maybe the memory causing the problem.

The number on the box is the TA (Top Assembly) number and represents everything that goes into the box. The AA, or actually the case for the S1200BTL the PBA number, is the part number for just the motherboard. Fortunately we have a tool that we can get one for the other. Your G71018-102 TA number corresponds to a G68718-102 PBA number.

acording to this page the S1200BTLRM does support the Xeon E3 1220v2

and the page you refer to say that it is E98683-352 or later. G68xxx isn't it later?

The CPU is from Q2 2012 and the board is from Q3 2012. Not that it is a sure indicator that it should work.
