S2600CP2J - Unknown post/beep code? POST fails after 4th boot.

Board is a S2600CP2J, BIOS Rev. 02.06.006, ME Rev. 02.01.07.328, Boot Firmware Rev. 01.17.

2xE5-2670's, 64GB memory. SATA SSD boot device for Windows 2019 install, LSI MegaRaid card used for storage array (4 drives in Raid 5). Installed in a standard PC case with an 850 watt ATX power supply. Power supply tests good. Also tried other known good power supply but issue still occurs.

System works great 99.9% of the time. The only hiccup is during POST. I can get 2-3 reboots, but eventually a POST fails with a beep code I can't find reference to, and diagnostic lights that don't seem to refer to anything I can find.

Beep code is either 12 short beeps, or two sets of 6 beeps. I can't discern a difference by listening, but looking at a wave form when I recorded the beep code, it looks like it might be two sets. Attached is a recording of the beeps, just because I can I guess - beeps start at 10 seconds.

Diag LEDs, image attached of Intel decoder. No instruction available for troubleshooting.

Resolution: Reset CMOS by removing battery and performing power drain (Remove power, hold power button). Having to go into the BIOS and reconfigure is a bit of a bummer. Normally I wouldn't think about this, but I've been performing some software installs that required a number of restarts - and it's driving me insane.

Hello Toxeia,

Thank you for posting your question on this Intel® Community.

Due to Intel® Server Board S2600CP2J being discontinued, Intel Customer Service no longer supports inquiries for it, but perhaps fellow community members have the knowledge to jump in and help.

Hi,

Did you find a solution for this problem?
I have several servers with a s2600GZ mainboard having the exact problem you describe.
Also when the problem occurs resetting bios / recovery ect. gives a temp solution.
This problem also drives me insane...

Maybe Intel can clarify this, we know the platform is End of Life.

Unfortunately, no. Intel won't help due to it being end of life, and I can't find any information on line.

Have you had any luck finding any documentation about the beep code? Are you hearing the same thing on your boards?
