S2600CW2 in a P4304XXMFEN2

I have a S2600CW2 in a P4304XXMFEN2. If I want to convert this to redundant power supplies, will there be any issues in doing so? Will I need to re-run the firmware/bios update?

Thanks

Ray

Hello RSump1,

Welcome back to the Intel community

So pretty much you want to convert a P4304XXMFEN2 chassis into a P4304XXMUXX. According to the Technical Product Specification document it seems like both chassis come with the same Power Distribution Board. If this is the case then it might be possible to remove the fixed PSU and replace it with both redundant PSU. You will need the following part numbers:

PSU cage assembly: FUPCRPSCAGE

Power Distribution Board: FUPPDBHC (Make sure you have the high current model)

Either one of these PSU models

1200W PSU: FXX1200PCRPS

1600W PSU: FXX1600PCRPS

BIOS wise it is always recommended to be on the latest available and make sure you update both FRU and SDR after installing the redundant PSUs so both will be recognized by the BMC

Let me know if you have further questions

Hello Jose, Thank you for your input, will I have any issues going to a redundant power but only have 2 case fans? I know the P4304XXMUXX has a redundant power supply with 5 hotswap fans. Thanks

Hello RSump1,

That is an interesting question. It is correct that P4304XXMUXX chassis come with 5 redundant hot swappable fans. I could not find any specific info other than 2 food notes on the TPS. I will research on this even when this conversions are not that common.

Hello RSump1,

I am contacting you on behave of Jose A.

We would like to inform you that in this particular case, you need to make sure when running the FUP for the FRU/SDR portion. Also, you need to select option 3 to "update both FRU and SDR" when it detects the chassis you would need to select "Other" and program each header individually.

For Chassis intrusion, you would need to select "No".

Please let me know if this information helps you in order to proceed with the next step.

Best regards,

Emeth O.

Good morning, Even though I am using an Intel chassis, I need to say "no chassis intrusion"?

Hello RSump1,

The autoconfiguration mode won't work since this would be a custom configuration. Please bear in mind that this is not a validated configuration as we don't have a native solution that comes with redundant PSUs + 2 fixed fan arrangement.

Fans could run at full speed even after performing the update.

Finally, to answer your question, you will need to select "No".

Best regards,
