S2600STBR freeze problem

Hi,

we have a machine with the following basic configuration:
- MB Intel S2600STBR (with bios updated to the latest available R0014),
- 1x Intel Xeon 8268 CPU,
- 2x RAM 64GB Kingston KSM29RD4 / 64HAR,
- 1x 500GB Crucial MX500 SSD.

The machine presents the problem that the system freezes without warning, both during the installation of the operating system and during use; when this happens we are forced to carry out a manual reset of the machine; together with this behavior, the status LED on board changes from green to flashing orange; in some cases it is followed by a sequence of beeps (1-5-2-2) and the subsequent automatic restart of the machine.
Both Windows 10 Pro 64bit and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.7 have been tested, with similar results.

I attach the machine log.
Could you give us some indication about it?
Thank you.

Hello ATurc3,

Thank you for joining the Intel community

There are multiple OS Run-time Critical Stop records on the SEL log. There are also, what it seems like several atemps for the system to reboot itselt (probably when its frozen). The OS Critical Stop might be OS related as per you have tried 2 different OS that are not within the tested OS list: Tested Operating Systems for Intel® Server Board S2600ST Family...

Also I can see is the RAM used 2xKSM29RD4 / 64HAR does not show up as validated on the Intel Server Configurator tool Purley THOL (intel.com). Only the KSM29RD4-32 shows as validated.

Just to discard CPU issues could you please run the Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool?

We will look forward to your updates.

Hi,

CPU test don't show anomalies; we have replace the RAM; now we installed 4x 32GB Kingstone KSM29RD4/MEI.

Unfortunately, the system (Windows 10 Pro 64 bit) freeze, especially when we make RAM benchmark (we use SiSoft Sandra).

Thanks in advance for Your suggestion.

Mauro

Hello ATurc3,

Thank you for the feedback. By any chance is there a possibility to try a version of Windows server (2019, 20H2, 2022) or any other included in this list Tested Operating Systems for Intel® Server Board S2600ST Family... ?

If the issue persist with using validated RAM and a tested OS, we should be able to create a warranty replacement order for the board.

We will look forward to your updates.

Hi Jose,

after several tests we have agreed that the malfunction is due from CPU, and then our manager is progressing for replacing.

Thanks for Your and Your team help.

Best regards.
