S5000PSL Will Not Boot After BMC Update - Error 05

I updated the BMC to the latest version, or tried, on my S5000PSL using a DOS boot disk and the DOS Update from Intel's website. The update appears to have failed - the system will not boot in normal mode now.

If I set the BMC Force Update jumper, it will boot. I then try to reflash but no success. The Boot block and PIA appear to update just fine, but the OpCode block does not - it is always 0.00!

Updating to any version of BMC have no result on OpCode version after AC power off. During update accurs "Error 05: Update failure".

You may try the BMC Force Update jumper (J1E3). See board http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/s5000psl/sb/CS-022619.htm TPS section 6.2 for step-by-step instructions.

Edward,

The only way I can boot is using the BMC force update jumper but it still fails with the error as stated in the original post. Do you have any other ideas?

Remove AC

Wait 60 seconds.

try booting with out the force Jumper.

if no boot.

install jumper

boot to EFI

flash BMC in EFI

power off AC

remove jumper

apply ac

does it boot?

As long as the force BMC jumper is installed the version will read 0,00
