SRCSASBB8I with more than 16 SATA HDDs

Hello.

I have SRCSASBB8I RAID card with RES2SV240 Expander connected.

When I use these RAID solution with 8 x 2TB SATA HDDs, there was no problems.

But recently, I have added 16 more 2TB SATA HDDs (total 24 HDDs. 4 HDDs are connected to SRCSASBB8I directly via SFF8087 x4 SAS/SATA cable, other 20 HDDs are connected to RES2SV240 Expander), and it show warning on boot up screen like below.

"Number of disks exceeded the maximum supported count of 16 disks"

In the product specifications listed in intel web page, SRCSASBB8I can support up to 32 physical devices.

Can anybody help me how to handle this situation?

Current firmware version is 1.40.232-1007 which is most recent one.

Thanks in advance for your help.

PS. I found out that latest firmware is not just for SRCSASBB8I but for multiple products such as SRCSASJV, SRCSASLS4I, SRCSASRB, SRCSATAWB.

Is there any chance of miscompile the firmware with wrong configuration?

xevalkan,

The maximum number of drives supported is a factory setting that is not changeable in the field. It sounds like you have an incorrect INI setting. Can you use http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18445&lang=eng&OSVersion=&DownloadType=Utilities%2C%20Tools%20and%20Examples Cmdtool2 to get a log from the controller?

The command would be: Cmdtool2 –adpalilog –a0 > raidlog.txt

Attach the resulting raidlog.txt file to this thread. We will be able to confirm with this log.

Regards,

Here is the log file. I have removed some log history like "sensor 0 bad.." cause there are too many of them.

If you need full log, I will try find out some place to attach the file(size is about 8MB). Just leave a post.

Thanks.
