Short on server chassis / power supply module

We have the following build - P4304XXMUXX

chassis with dual PSU, S2600STB motherboard, dual Silver 4108 CPU. When built, the system will not boot and gives an electrical short error. Removing the power board and PSU's outside of the chassis, the system boots fine. We've been through 2 motherboards, 2 chassis and a replacement power board module. All do the same thing. We have narrowed it down to the power board module as if we remove that from the chassis all is good. We are thinking this must be some sort of batch manufacturing issue - has anyone else suffered any similar problems?

Appears to be an issue with the PBU's shipping with the chassis. Replaced with a replacement PBU (which has slightly different components) and that works OK. Would be interested to hear if anyone else has had similar issues or if we were unlucky to get the 2 faulty ones!!!!

Hi Charlie,

apologies for the delayed response. We had to focus on getting the installation completed for the customer so I have been out of the office.

The part number on the PBU were exactly the same but on the replacement board which was supplied on its own, the components were silver. On both the boards supplied with the chassis, the components were black.

Best regards

Ruth

Hello Ruth, We are trying to verify what component is getting issues, that is why we are asking for the PBA number for each part. When you mention PBU are you referring to the PSU (Power Supply Unit)? This issue could be related to the PSU or the PDB (Power Distribution Board). Are you able to share a picture with us so we can have a better look? Thank you. Regards, Charlie_V Intel Customer Support Technician Under Contract to Intel Corporation
