Unusable display on Ubuntu with S2600WTT

Hello Gents,

We're experiencing strange problems with various Ubuntu versions on a S2600WTT server (using a Xeon E5-2660 v4):

Using the onboard graphics, the display is excessively slow, at a point it is barely usable.

Additionally, we're experiencing a slow memory throughput. Both problems might be linked. Updating the BIOS and playing with almost all settings there didn't change the problem.

Any clues on what might cause that?

Ubuntu is in that list, so I don't see the point of your reply.

Hi,

The assistance we offer for Linux distributions is limited reason why we recommend installing a different operating system just to for testing purposes. Test the BIOS set up menu to see if the issue happens there too. We also recommend having the latest firmware update and drivers from our website. If the issue persists with a different OS, we can determine there is a hardware malfunction and replacing the board under warranty will be the next step.

We have the latest BIOS. We've installed CentOs and the issue disappear. That's apparently a compatibility problem between Ubuntu and S2600WTT + Xeon E5-2660 v4.

But since Ubuntu is on the OS list, we would expect some support. That's why we're asking

compiz might be the reason, i experienced something similiar with bad onboards graphics. If you really want to use Ubuntu you could try Xubuntu which doesnt use compiz.
