What is an acceptable password for the Integrated BMC Web Console on the M50CYP1UR204?

I'm trying to set up remote access to my M50CYP1UR204 and can get to the web console login page from my other machine.  However, I've been unable to set a password in the BIOS so of course I can't log in.

I've tried turning "complex password" on and off, to no avail.

If "complex password" is turned on, I get a message saying my password doesn't meet the requirements even though it clearly does. It is 9 characters, and contains upper and lower case letters, a digit, and a "special character", for which I've tried "!" and ":".

If "complex password" is turned off, then I get a different error message saying it can't set the password.

Does anyone have an example password that will actually work, either with or without the complex password rules turned on? Of course I'll change it once I get it working,  but I can't come up with ANYTHING that will work.

Help!

Hello technovelist,

Thank you for joining the Intel community

There are multiple ways to setup the BMC password on this system. Directly in BIOS, using Syscfg utility and through IPMI commands

You want to follow the instructions on the Baseboard Management Controller User Guide for M50CYP systems https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/server-products/single-node-servers/integrated-bmc-web-console-user-guide.pdf#page=24
