I hope this message finds you well.
We purchased a custom server for our P5G project, which relies heavily on precise synchronization for optimal performance. As part of this project, we need to ensure proper PTP (Precision Time Protocol) synchronization between the server and an external Grandmaster clock (GM).
While configuring the system, we found that the server, equipped with Intel X710 NIC cards and using the i40e driver, is not achieving the expected synchronization. Based on our research, it seems the server does support PTP, but we are encountering an issue specifically with hardware timestamping of PTP messages.
Given the importance of synchronization for our P5G system, we suspect that this issue may be related to the NIC model and driver version being used, particularly concerning the hardware time stamping feature.
Could you kindly confirm if you have encountered similar issues with the Intel X710 NIC and i40e drivers in the context of PTP synchronization? If so, we would appreciate any insights, recommendations, or updates regarding the driver or known incompatibilities that might affect hardware timestamping functionality.
You can find the ptp files and error ss in the attachment.
PTP4L version 3.1.1
Thank you.
Best regards,

Dear Yesu and Mohammed,
Sorry for my late reply. The notifications are sent to my junk folder in email address, I didnot see your messages.
Yes I checked the related pages but still facing the same problem. I sent an email to server provider(Advantech) and I am waiting to their feedbacks about the issue whether it can be a hardware problem.
Thank you for your interest.
Best Regards,
Batuhan
