Xeon W-3400 non-X and Memory tuning

Hi,

I understand that the Xeon W-3400 X series are overclockable and the non-X series are not. Is it still possible to run higher DRAM frequencies with the non-X series?

For example, in my case running the W-3455 on an Asus W790 Sage motherboard, would an XMP profile of 5600mhz be possible?

Thanks

Hi EricTrilog,

Thank you for contacting Intel support. We kindly request you to confirm the following steps to identify if your system is compatible with Intel® XMP:

1)Kindly check if the motherboard is listed as compatible with Intel® XMP by confirming this with the manufacturer.

2)please check if the memory module is Intel® XMP Certified.

please note that unlocked features are available with select chipsets and processor combinations. However, altering the clock frequency or voltage settings may void any product warranties and could result in reduced stability, security, performance, and lifespan of the processor and other components. We recommend checking with your system and component manufacturers for further details.

Additionally, for details on Intel® Extreme Memory Profile, please refer to the link below:

Hi Poojitha,

As mentioned, I am running the following configuration,

Motherboard: Asus Pro WS W790E-Sage SE ( XMP Certified )

https://www.asus.com/ca-en/motherboards-components/motherboards/workstation/pro-ws-w790e-sage-se/

Processor:

Intel(R) Xeon(R) w7-3455 ( XMP unclear )

Memory: ( XMP Certified )

https://v-color.net/products/ddr5-oc-r-dimm-intel-w790-workstation-memory-copy

The 4x64gb at 5600MHz, which is in the supported memory list of the motherboard.

The documentation regarding the non-x processors permitting XMP profiles is unclear. Can you confirm or deny that this processor can handle XMP profiles?

Hi EricTrilog,

Regarding the support for XMP (Extreme Memory Profile) on Intel® Xeon® W7-3455 processors. As you correctly noted, XMP profiles are not supported on the W7-3455 processors. This feature is exclusively available on the "X" series processors.

For your reference, you can find a comprehensive list of processors that support XMP profiles in the Intel® XMP 3.0 Memory for Intel® Core™ Processors Datasheet. The datasheet is available for download in Excel format at the following link: Intel® XMP 3.0 Memory for Intel® Core™ Processors Datasheet.

Additionally, I would like to highlight that the maximum memory speed supported by the Intel® Xeon® W7-3455 processors is 4800MHz. You can find more detailed specifications for this processor series at the following link: Intel® Xeon® W7-3455 Processor Specifications.

If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out.
