In the beginning.... i bought a SE7520JR2 with dual 3.6 ghz procs, recently I got a asr26xxFHR that is a passive PCI ex riser (x16, x8, x8) now I should have asked a few questions but is a little late. The riser fits the adaptive slot as I new it would but I think there may be a few setbacks. I need to get a case and may be stuck(?) with the SR2400 but I cannot get enough info from the intel support pages...

Can anyone help me get this board running? I have yet to get a case and PS let alone memoery and disks. The end goal is to have a blistering PC for computing as well as play a couple of games.

It should be noted that this is my first foray into the world of rackmount equipment from an assembly standpoint.

frustratedly,

steveB

The SR2400 is the right chassis. Anything for the SR2600 won't give you reliable results.

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/sb/cs-013815.htm has most order codes for the SR2400

is there any interchangability between parts for the 2400 and 2600 chassis' ?

The asr26xxFHR riser i hastily bought was not thouroughly researched and looks odd on the board as it seems the addin cards (ie graphics) will sit too far back. However this has not yet been physically proven because I am hesitant to pickup a x16 card just to try it out.

Also is my SE7520JR2 board only compatible with the 2400 case or are there other non Intel choices? My end goal is basic. Get rid of the esthetically clunky antiquated tower cases and build a custom desk incorporating a unique workstation design to house 3 ?U racks above a 40" monitor. I just wich the front bezel on the 2400 chassis was a little more "http://www.plinkusa.net/web2015Lv.htm sleek" or at least covered all the HDD bays so I could get my right look.

Thanks,

steveB

I don't think there's even interchangeability between SR2400 and SR2500, or the 2500 to the 2600; much less 2400 to 2600.

There are non-Intel chassis for the JR2 - see http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/se7320vp2/sb/cs-012670.htm
