Hi,
I am koteswararao working on intel based x86_64 board (ATCA-46xx) which has
HDD LED that indicates the status about HDD access . During HDD access
LED is 'ON'. But, after applying sgpio related patches specified in below link ,
the HDD LED is continuously 'OFF' and doesn't blink during HDD read/write operations.
The below commit's are backported from 3.2 kernel (kernel.org)
{{{
1.

[SCSI] libsas: sgpio write support
2.

[SCSI] isci: fix sgpio register definitions
3.
ad4f4c1de80abdda5d55315289505598aa78e355
[SCSI] isci: initial sgpio write support
}}}
I have gone through the above commit code and observed that
SGPIO_HW_CONTROL macro defined in 3rd commit in above list
is causing the issue. I referred C600 data sheet given in below link
http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/datasheets/c600-series-chipset-datasheet.pdf http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/datasheets/c600-series-chipset-datasheet.pdf
to get idea over SGPIO_HW_CONTROL macro bit settings and observed
that LED issue is due to FSENG activity written in to SCU output data select register.
There is no much details about FSENG activity.
Could anyone please let me know more details about FSENG activity?
What does this FSENG activity means?
how it has effect on HDD LED (front panel LED)?
Thanks for allowing me in posting this mail.
Regards
koti46xx
