memory controller in intel cpu

I want to know whether the memory controller in intel cpu supports open-page-mode to utilize DRAM row buffer locality.

What is the address mapping mode in the memory controller? Does it support to give read more priority than write?

Thanks.

Yes, the Xeon 5500 memory controller supports open-page-mode to utilize DRAM row buffer locality, and it also gives memory reads more priority than writes.

Thanks.

As I know last level cache writeback will produce a lot of conflict because of address mapping symmetry, and a large part of the conflict can be removed by permutation-based address mapping in memory controller. The address mapping only xor old bank index and lower bits in last level cache tag to produce new bank index. Does Xeon 5500 memory controller support this scheme? If not, how intel memory controller deal with the problem? Does Xeon 5500 memory controller support dynamical switching between open-page mode and close-page mode?

Is there any document from which I can get the detail information about memory controller in intel chip?

Hi!

I would like to ask some help. Is there memory controller in the q6600 or isn't in? So the LGA775 platform's memory controller is there in the processors or in the motherboards?

Thank you,

Steve.

No the Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q6600 doesn't have integrated memroy controller. It's in the chipset. For more details, see http://ark.intel.com/products/29765/Intel-Core2-Quad-Processor-Q6600-(8M-Cache-2_40-GHz-1066-MHz-FSB)# blockdiagrams http://ark.intel.com/products/29765/Intel-Core2-Quad-Processor-Q6600-(8M-Cache-2_40-GHz-1066-MHz-FSB)# blockdiagrams

Thanks. I have one more question. Does support Q6600 the DDR3 1333MHz ram? My memories are DDR3 1333MHz kit (2x2GB), but it works at 1066MHz and I would like to run at 1333MHz.

Since the memory controller is not inside the CPU, you'd better check your board manufacturer on this one.

Checked your board spec - it says "DDR3 1333(O.C.)". I guess O.C. means overclock. Better check with ASUS to confirm how to make that work. The G41 MCH supports 1066Mhz memory speed only. Thank you. I sad because I have also an Asus P5G41T-M LX3, and it's memory support same the P5G41T-M LX, and the LX3 manage the 1333MHz memories. Although I use this board with 1333Mhz fsb processor (E8500). Maybe this is the reason.

Thanks, good bye!
